Spell of the senses

In collaboration with good friend Alicia McDaniel, Ashes Of Reconnection is an experimental film that captures the fading connection with our Mexican heritage. Through generations of assimilation and being of mixed race, McDaniel and I both see ourselves as not enough of either half, ethnically. We created and edited this video remotely: McDaniel in Sacramento and myself in San Francisco. With lots of communication and trust, we surprised ourselves with a film that distorts what it means to be Latinx as we feel distorted as well.
